Jamie was an important part of the famous 2001 Walker Cup team that beat the USA on their home soil. He was unbeaten in all singles and foursomes matches and represented England on 29 occasions being the No.1 player on the Augusta State University Golf Team.

Jamie finished his time in the USA as the 2nd ranked amateur on the US amatuer rankings following 23 top 10 finishes.

Jamie turned professional in 2003 and secured his European Tour playing privileges that year winning the Volvo Finnish Open with a score of 22 under par. He followed this up with 6 more top 10 finishes to finish 10th on the Challenge Tour order of merit.

2004 was a frustrating year, with injury problems, after a bright start he ended up 154 on the Order of Merit. Jamie qualified for the British Open this year at Royal Birkdale and is currently 28th on the EuroPro Tour Order of Merit.
